Lost in Translation... I felt like I was living it in Tokyo, albeit my stay was brief. I'm definitely living it in HK. My Cantonese has tanked so much, half the time I'm staring at ppl with a blank face going, "uhhh....?" So of course, nobody's impressed...they all think I'm some idiot, since I look like I can carry a normal convo with them. That's until I ask for an English menu because I can't read Chinese. Sigh...

Not only is HK is way too hot and humid (I feel nasty just walking a couple of blocks), I can't stand the stench of ham yue everywhere. Mofo, be glad you're not here again, though I miss having you around in HK already.

It's nice having my own place in HK. Brand new, professionally remodelled, new air conditioner, new TV, new fridge, new stove, new bathroom, etc etc. New everything! Pretty sweet =) Quiet, but if I ever want some company, I can always just go over to Uncle Hubert's which is like not even a minute walk away. Ti's become Little Miss Popular in HK, always going out all day everyday...but Jon, Christine and Tiffany all still have school so I can either play with them in the evenings or play with Rutchi if she actually manages to behave. Seriously, that bitch (in the literal sense of the word) has so much energy, she goes nuts barking and jumping at the sight of anyone! I don't mind dogs, but doggy breath and slobber isn't really my cup of tea. But it was weird, when I saw her, I realized how much I missed her. Although she still attempts to steal my snacks. Stupid dog. =)

I'm having the worst case of jetlag ever. My sleeping's completely messed up...sigh. And to top it off, not only have I not bought my sexy new Fujitsu S-6210 laptop yet, but my Outlook file, which I burned on a CD from Toronto, is corrupt. The entire CD is messed up. Damn cheap Pacific Mall CDs. I don't have anybody's contact anymore!! If you're in HK right now, email me your contact info. I'm lost here. Sigh...

Chillin' in Japan... I just went through the flight from hell. I hate United. Because they oversold the flight, I got stuck with a window seat. I hate window seats. You know why? Because of potential situations like the one I just in. I was stuck beside two humongous fat guys - a Japanese guy who sat in the middle seat, and a British guy who sat in the aisle seat. I asked the Brit if he was willing to trade seats, he said no. With their size trapping me in my little corner, I was feeling claustrophobic. They passed out for most of the flight. Both drooled while they snored like a friggin' lion. I couldn't tell whether the B.O. stench I was smelling came from the Jap or the Brit, all I know is, I didn't get an ounce of sleep all flight, and most of the flight I was just trying to summon all the patience and willpower just to remain calm and resist the urge of taking revenge on someone for my predicament, especially when the Japanese guy started drooling on me - I was ready to punch him. Sigh...

At least I was able to do some reading. Rita was gushing about The Da Vinci Code, saying I just HAD to read it. Luckily, I had the foresight buy a copy at LAX. Now, anybody that knows me well knows that I don't read books. Textbooks (although I really should), novels, history books - nope, nada, nothing. But I'll read the newspaper, magazines, online articles, and the occasionally interesting book like the Metrosexual Guide book Eric got me for Christmas. But this book was really something. I have to admit, I was glued to it the entire flight. I didn't have much of a choice since I was stuck in my seat, and I had already seen all the in-flight movies (except Mona Lisa Smile - I wasn't about to watch that!). I was so into it, I finished the 500-some page book well before the flight was over. It's a good book, I highly recommend it. Now if even I recommend a book, then you know it's gotta be good. =) I even saw other people on the flight with a copy.

Anyway, now I'm using a public internet terminal in Tokyo (They're equipped with sexy wireless laptops! But damn these Japanese keyboards, I keep hitting the wrong keys), just on a layover in NRT waiting for my connecting flight to HKG. Waiting for my massage appointment too...getting my first Shiatsu. After what I went through on that flight, I didn't think I had much of a choice. =) Even airport sushi is better than Canada's. Sigh...life is hard. =)

Very, very special birthday wishes go out to Jo & Rita. I really wish I could be there for the both of you. =)

Life is hard... "Dude, not only do I have to make the tough decision of where to eat, but I have to make a long drive in this gorgeous weather to get there...and now, I have to stuff myself with this giant chocolate brownie...it's too big man, but it's so good, I just HAVE to eat it...and I gotta decide between beach volleyball or surfing afterwards...and I gotta put on suntan lotion...sigh, life is sooo hard..."

3 years. I'll be back here with a new car and a new house. =)

Went to Ivar last night, a "hot new club", where the lineup was so long and so bad, there were people who had lined up for over 2 hours. Erica had hookups with the promoters so we got in immediately...but once there, I gotta say, that people who lined up for two hours to get in are suckers. The club was totally overrated...Highlands on Friday was ten times better. Of course, it didn't help things that I was accidentally punched by a drunk, hulking Italian guy who was trying to go after someone else. Good thing he didn't hit me dead on, otherwise I'd prolly be in the hospital right now cuz I didn't even see it coming. Music was alright, but even before that incident, the club just didn't seem very fun. Of course, seeing a cross-dressed guy in a wig climb up onto the stage shaking it didn't help matters very much: "That's gotta be the ugliest, buffest, most flat-chested dancer I've ever seen!" "Um, that's a guy." LOL.

Today, we made the drive to Rosemead, to Justis's church, Evergreen Baptist...it was dominated by Koreans, but still a pretty multicultural church. It was pretty cool, and of course Jus is a great piano player so it was nice hearing him. Afterwards, we drove all the way to Irvine to have lunch with Tianne. I swear, I really wonder about her choice of friends sometimes. Some of them are just completely.....I won't say it. =) Example: when asking them for directions of how to get to their place so we can pick her up, we get "turn left once you get to the side street." Which friggin' side street?! "Um, I dunno, but just turn left when you get there." WTF?! Where?! They live at Irvine for an entire year, and they still don't know the street name or even how to describe the area. We ended up driving around for almost an hour just on campus. I was so hungry, I was ready to kill one of them for prolonging my hunger with their incompetent directions. =P At least we were able to grab good seafood at McCormick & Schmick's in Newport/Irvine. In total, we must've spent some 4, 5 hours just driving today. =(

At least at night it wasn't so bad...Jus picked me up and we went to the Cheesecake Factory in Pasadena. Unbelievably good food there, and like I said above, the brownie was crazy. You have to see it to believe it! It was just too much. If Universal Studios Walk hadn't closed early for the night, we would've eaten there instead, and not have to deal with over-stuffing ourselves. Sigh, life is hard...

I don't want to leave tomorrow. Maybe I'll just postpone my flight. =)

Off into the world... it's been crazy over the past little while. With packing, finishing exams, and meeting up with friends before I left, things have been so hectic that I barely have any time just to sleep.

Thursday, I had a going-away / Friends finale / belated birthday get-together, which was really nice...at least I was able to see most ppl near and dear to me before I left, along with catching up with ppl I hadn't seen in quite a while. Although I gotta stop making those jello shots whenever ppl come over. My tendency to take the opportunity to drink while I'm at home and don't have to drive when I'm with ppl is too much - especially when I've already got others trying to shove alcohol down my throat. =) There were so many ppl, I couldn't even fit in my own family room to watch the Friends finale! But it really meant a lot to me to have my friends show up, even if I didn't get a chance to spend a significant amount of time with everyone. Still, given my limited schedule, it was better than nothing.

Thanks for the cake, the gifts, the pics, the laughs, and the drinks. I'll surely miss them everyday until September. Oh, and I've got some pics posted up in the gallery already. Check 'em out. I'll post more when I get the chance.

Now I'm in LA...the flight Friday was just too crazy early seeing how late ppl stayed Thursday. All I wanted to do when I got on the plane was sleep...and unfortunately, on this flight, there was no hottie sitting beside me like New York. =(

But when I touched down in LA, my exhaustion just disappeared...it's absolutely gorgeous here! It's hot, but it's dry so I don't mind...Justis picked me up from LAX and we went to Gladstone's for lunch, which was unbelievable - just eating outside on the patio in Malibu by the ocean, sipping on strawberry lemonade, basking in the sun, listening to the waves crash...this is my idea of a vacation. Jus and I kept joking about how hard life is. In 3 years, I'll have myself an oceanfront house. I never want to leave. =)

In the evening, met up with Tracy...it was nice to see her again and catch up, I don't get the chance to chat with her very often, especially when she hangs up on me whenever I greet her with "hey sexy mama..." thinking I'm some kind of sick stalker freako. That hurts, you know, having your own biew jeh thinking you're a stalker. =P And I finally got the chance to meet the much-talked-about Steve. They've been going out for like forever...but it's cool, I'm really glad she found a good guy. He's pretty nice - I ended up staying at his place in Marina del Rey since it's bigger, by the ocean, and more central to everything (if you can even call it that, seeing how sprawled out LA is). He's pretty chillax about stuff. At night, we met up with some of her friends and went to The Highlands, a club in Hollywood...and because good looks run in the family (well duh, I'm metro and Trace is a sexy mama...haha), combined with the hot-girl-circle theory (hot girls have hot friends), the bouncers picked us out of the long lineup within 10 seconds of us being there and let us in. =) The club was pretty good...there was a photographer who went around taking pics to post on the promo site, somehow I ended up getting my pics snapped with some random hotties (I really honestly don't know how it happened...I'm just dancing, next thing I know, I've got a camera in my face and I'm surrounded by LA hotties). I'm not complaining though. =P

So now I just woke up, taking the opportunity to catch up on my blog while I wait for Tracy to wake up and grab brunch. Prolly gonna spend the day checking out Third Street, Venice Beach, and shopping, then check out Justis's church tomorrow....man, I love LA.
